Tom is an associate in Milbank’s Transportation and Space Group, based in the firm’s London office. Tom has experience acting for financiers, equity investors, leasing companies and airlines on a variety of asset leasing and financing transactions involving aircraft, ships, oil rigs and other moveable equipment.

Recent transactions on which Tom has acted include:
- Volofin in connection with a senior secured limited recourse loan facility with ACS, financing aircraft engines. The portfolio consisted of an initial nine engines with scope for further engines to be financed. The finance documents contain a committed and uncommitted facility totalling $50,000,000.00.
- Various aircraft financiers and leasing companies in connection with the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Dara Aviation Finance Limited in connection with the acquisition and financing of a portfolio of 19 commercial aircraft from AerCap Holdings N.V. and its subsidiaries. Part of the financing for the acquisition of the portfolio was provided via a USD$500m murabaha facility: the first Sharia’h compliant facility of its kind, comprising a number of innovative features.
- A global aircraft lessor on the refinancing of a portfolio of 19 commercial aircraft.
- Citibank and other financing banks with respect to a portfolio financing program of up to US$2 billion made available to a subsidiary of Seaspan Corporation to refinance approximately 40 vessels. The financing program provides for a common collateral pool to secure bank financing as well as private placement notes. The financing program was named “Innovation Deal of the Year for 2019” by Marine Money.
- Ad hoc committee of bondholders of Thomas Cook group on certain airline group related issues in connection with the attempted recapitalisation of Thomas Cook.
- Njord Partners, a special situations credit investor, on its investment in certain European aircraft assets.
- The lender in connection with the restructuring of a shipping company based in Germany.
- A leading regional aircraft lessor in connection with their USD$200m secured warehouse financing of a portfolio of ATR and Bombardier turboprop aircraft.
- Geoquip Marine in connection with a term loan facility and revolving credit facility.
- The lender in connection with an innovative USD$100m portfolio airframe and engine facility agreement.
- A leading regional aircraft lessor in connection with the purchase and financing of a portfolio of six Embraer E190 aircraft with leases attached.
- Deutsche Bank on a USD$400m warehousing facility to finance the acquisition of a portfolio of aircraft for a new JV vehicle.
- Elix Aviation Capital in connection with their first portfolio sale of six aircraft with leases attached.
Tom has previously spent nine months seconded to the legal department of a major aircraft leasing company and six months seconded to the legal department of an international investment bank. Between 2016 and 2020, Tom completed the four modules of the Milbank@Harvard program, taught on campus by Harvard Business School and Law School faculty.
