Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP’s Assistant Director of Public Service, Anthony Perez Cassino, received a special award from Her Justice for his role in supporting pro bono efforts, particularly organizing a successful clinic in which Her Justice clients were matched with lawyers to assist with their uncontested divorce cases.
Held in connection with JPMorgan Chase’s annual Day of Service, the clinic brought together 15 attorneys from Milbank and 15 attorneys from JPMorgan to assist on 12 cases. The program included a training session followed by meetings with the clients to prepare initial documents for filing their cases.
The clinic was such a success that Milbank and JPMorgan plan to host another one this year.
“It’s an honor to be recognized for our work with JPMorgan on this important program,” says Mr. Cassino. “For many Her Justice clients, beginning the legal process of divorce is a critical step in being able to break free from an abusive relationship.”
Attorneys and staff who participated from Milbank included associates David Berkery, Lyn Brennan, Jenny Friedman, Meghan Gabriel, Jasmine Jin, Juyon Kang, Stephanie Keats, Henry Makeham, Freyda Mechlowicz, Nicholas Milburn, Bich-Nga Nguyen, Mojdeh Pourmahram, William Reiter, Zara Shirazi, Sara Thompson, and Miranda Stupart, and legal assistant Rodrigo Valle. Supervising partners included Director of Public Service Joe Genova and Roland Hlawaty, Douglas Landy, James Pascale, Abhilash Raval, and Helfried Schwarz, as well as Drew Fine, who also is Chair of Her Justice’s Board of Directors.
