Primary Focus & Experience

Giles' practice focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, financings and cross-border securities offerings, including high-yield and other debt offerings and equity offerings in the Asia-Pacific region, across many industries including telecommunications, power and energy, mining, transportation, manufacturing and property development.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Giles is consistently recognized by Chambers Asia, Legal 500 and IFLR 1000. Giles has been awarded “Lawyer of the Year” for Capital Markets Law in Singapore by The Best Lawyers 2024 edition, an honor that is only awarded to one lawyer for each practice area. He was also recognized in Energy Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law as well as Private Equity Law by the same publication. He is ranked as a leading capital markets lawyer by Who’s Who Legal: Southeast Asia 2022 and was awarded “TMT Lawyer of the Year” by The American Lawyer’s 2015 Emerging Markets Awards. In IFLR1000, Giles was recognized as a “Highly Regarded’’ lawyer for his expertise in Capital Markets in Singapore. 

Giles received his B.A. and LL.B. from Canterbury University in 1997 and his LL.M. (1st class) from Victoria University in New Zealand in 2000. He is admitted to practice in New York and the United Kingdom, and is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
