The team was also ranked #1 CLO Manager counsel globally in Creditflux’s 2023 year-end Advisory Firm Rankings as well as #1 Manager counsel on 9fin’s 2023 global CLO BSL law firm league tables.

Milbank LLP’s Alternative Investments and Structured Credit practice was named “Structured Finance and Securitization Team of the Year” at the IFLR Americas Awards 2024. The award ceremony, which celebrates the most legally innovative financial and corporate deals, teams and firms, and outstanding individuals over the past 12 months, was held in New York City on May 15, 2024. The IFLR Americas Awards are unique in the market for focusing on legal innovation through dealmaking and celebrating work that improves cross-border investment. IFLR’s awards are based on a rigorous research process that involved reviewing hundreds of entries from across the region and interviews with lawyers across the industry.

In addition to winning the team of the year category, the structured credit team had the honor of advising key clients on three cross-border deals, which were each shortlisted in the “Structured Finance Deal of the Year” category.

The practice was also named a Law360 2023 “Structured Finance Practice Group of the Year,” one of only three law firms to be recognized in this category for its work in 2023 for its work on major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry in the last year.

Consistently ranked at the top of industry league tables, with one of the strongest structured credit legal teams, Milbank's Structured Credit practice was most recently highlighted as #1 CLO Manager counsel globally (7th consecutive year) by Creditflux and #1 CLO Manager globally by 9fin, in addition to securing top places in US and European Manager counsel rankings.

Milbank's globally recognized Structured Credit practice is led by partner Sean M. Solis, and includes partners Jared Axelrod, Catherine Leef Martin and Brian Troxler in New York, and Claire Bridcut and James Warbey in London, along with a team of special counsel and associates across offices. Positioned at the forefront of structured finance since the inception of CLOs, Milbank’s global team represents market-leading collateral managers, arrangers, issuers, risk retention lenders, anchor investors and derivatives counterparties on a multitude of structured finance transactions involving a diverse array of asset classes, including broadly syndicated loans, middle market loans, aircraft finance loans, real estate loans, infrastructure loans, sovereign loans, private fund investments and consumer loans.

In 2023, 2021 and 2019, Mr. Solis was selected as Lexology’s Client Choice Award winner for Securitization and Structured Finance in New York.

Mr. Solis commented: “On behalf of our global team, we are grateful for the incredible recognition by Law360 and IFLR, as well as our #1 rankings by Creditflux and 9fin. Our continued success is a testament to our unyielding commitment to the highest class of client service and a deep passion for the work our global team does every day, working shoulder to shoulder with our fantastic clients.
