Many of our partners, counsel and associates began their careers by clerking for federal and state judges. We appreciate the valuable experience and skills that former judicial clerks bring to our practice. To apply, please click here. Click here for a list of former clerks at Milbank.
Clerks in Our Litigation Practice
With former Assistant United States Attorneys and leaders in the fields of business and securities litigation, securities regulation, white-collar defense, international arbitration and intellectual property litigation, our litigators have exceptional depth of experience in cutting-edge business disputes worldwide.
Post-clerkship, your experience as an associate at Milbank will be unlike that at other major firms. Our non-hierarchical atmosphere allows associates at all levels to participate in and add value at every stage of litigation. Our associates are involved in case strategy and design from inception, routinely communicate with clients, take and defend depositions, make court appearances, argue motions and draft briefs.
Professional Development
Our formal training and mentoring programs provide associates with unique opportunities to round out their career development, exemplified by our Milbank@Harvard program. During four consecutive years, each associate from every Milbank office worldwide is sent to Harvard for a seven-day training program, taught on campus by Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School faculty, with assistance from Milbank partners. For litigation associates, the firm also offers Advocacy@Milbank – a comprehensive, multi-level training program for litigators in their first through sixth years of practice. Our associates participate in an intensive multi-year writing program, presentation skills coaching, a pro bono appellate argument program, and hands-on workshops on lay and expert depositions, arguing motions, and trial skills.
Clerks in Other Groups
We always welcome applications from bankruptcy clerks to our Financial Restructuring Group. We consider post-clerkship applications for other groups based on those groups’ needs.
