Our Pride affinity group coordinates events and initiatives that foster community, create networking opportunities, and promote professional development.

Virtual Summer Program Highlights

  • Paint Nite: Associate and summer associate members were invited to a virtual Paint Nite where they got together and stretched their creative muscles.
  • Trivia: Our Pride affinity group tested our knowledge of LGBTQ+ history and culture throughout the month with a new set of trivia questions each week on MilbankNow.

Speaker Series

In celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, our Pride and Women@Milbank affinity groups hosted a discussion with Jackie Biskupski, Salt Lake City's first openly LGBTQ+ mayor. She discussed the intersectionality of the fight for LGBTQ+ and women’s rights, highlighted the importance of allyship in the fight for equality, and answered audience questions about bipartisanship and voting rights.

Milbank was honored to host Con Orgullo (With Pride), a virtual firmwide event featuring guest speaker Hon. Maite D. Oronoz-Rodríguez, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and the first openly LGBTQ+ female Chief Justice in US history. The event was sponsored by Milbank’s LaMano and Pride affinity groups.

Queery This!

Every month Pride hosts Queery This!, a monthly discussion series exploring allyship and intersectionality through an LGBTQ+ lens. Topics have included microaggressions, interrupting bias, and impact versus intent.

Milbank and the LGBTQ+ Community: A Legacy of Support

For many decades, Milbank has been proud to support the community, with outreach and engagement including:

  • Assisting asylum-seekers: Working with Immigration Equality, we help LGBTQ+ and HIV-positive individuals facing persecution and violence in their home countries with the legal support they need to pursue asylum requests in the United States.
  • Life-changing legal name change support: Through TLDEF’s Name Change project, we assist low-income transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary individuals with the often-complex process of filing for legal name changes.
  • Civil rights and more: We are a proud national sponsor of Lambda Legal.
