Primary Focus & Experience
Patrick focuses his practice on transactional work in the energy and infrastructure space. He advises developers, lenders, utilities, government authorities and large-scale electricity consumers on the development, financing, and acquisition of major projects, with particular emphasis on engineering, procurement and construction contracting, integrated project delivery, public-private partnerships and offtake arrangements. Recent significant representations include:
- Google in its purchase of up to 500 MW of nuclear power from a fleet of small modular reactors (SMRs) to be developed by Kairos Power, the world’s first corporate agreement to purchase nuclear energy from SMR technology.
- Equinor in the development and financing of the Empire offshore wind project in New York.
- The lenders - including initial coordinating lead arrangers Mizuho Bank Ltd., MUFG Bank, Ltd., Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, ING Capital LLC and Banco Santander, S.A., New York Branch - in connection with the financing of Stonepeak’s acquisition of a 50% interest in Dominion Energy, Inc.’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project.
- BNP, Mizuho, and MUFG in connection with an acquisition financing in which Global Infrastructure Partners puchased Eversource’s 50% equity interest in the South Fork and Revolution offshore wind projects being developed by Ørsted.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Patrick earned his BCL/LLB from McGill University. He received his BASc and MASc in civil engineering from the University of Toronto.
