Primary Focus & Experience
Ms. Schmitt’s practice focuses on the representation of project sponsors and financial institutions on a range of US and cross-border project development, finance and merger & acquisition transactions across the power and transportation sectors.
Ms. Schmitt's recent experience includes:
- Commercial lenders and export credit agencies (including EDC, JBIC, KEXIM and KfW IPEX-Bank) in connection with the $2.5 billion financing for the expansion of the Centinela copper mine in Chile.
- Lenders in connection with the financing of Brookfield Asset Management’s $3.5 billion acquisition of ownership interest in FirstEnergy Transmission, LLC.
- SoftBank Energy in connection with the $2.4 billion debt and tax equity financing of utility scale solar projects in Milam County, TX.
- Silicon Valley Bank in connection with the debt and tax equity financing of a community solar portfolio consisting of 20+ projects across multiple states.
- Mytilineos Energy & Metals in connection with the $370 million financing of a 588MW solar portfolio in Chile.
- ING Capital LLC, as lender, in connection with a bridge loan facility to finance the acquisition of a 840 MWDC solar and 225MW battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio of projects in New Mexico by Exus North America. Part of the bridge loan facility proceeds will also be available to fund project costs for the TAG Project – a development project with installed capacity of 140 MW and 60 MW BESS in New Mexico.
