Milbank LLP partners Matt Ahrens and Iliana Ongun, consulting partner Allan Marks and associate Allison Sloto co-authored “ESG Considerations in Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance,” a chapter in the recently published International Comparative Legal Guide - Environmental, Social & Governance Law 2025.

The authors discuss how environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations, which have long been important for understanding risk in project finance transactions, also provide a helpful lens through which to view investment, credit and reputational risk. The chapter also reports on how investors and shareholders are searching for greater ESG accountability and transparency as they push for better reporting to assess the impact of their investments.
