Milbank represented Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and DNB Bank in the financing for Sonnedix’s Meseta de los Andes, a 160 MW solar PV plant and 15km transmission line complex located in the Valparaiso region of Chile. Once complete, Meseta de los Andes will be one of the largest solar PV plants in Chile and will power more than 18,000 homes.
The Milbank team was led by Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance partner Daniel D. Bartfeld and associates Daniel Tsarevsky and Olivia Scandura.
Mr. Bartfeld noted, “We are honored to support the lenders and Sonnedix on another successful solar financing in Latin America, and look forward to continuing to play a role in Chile’s commitment to strengthening renewable energy sources within its power infrastructure.”
Milbank continues to have the lead legal role in many of the most significant Latin American power, energy and infrastructure matters and regularly advises clients on a wide range of development, financing and acquisition matters. This is the sixth renewables project that the firm has closed in the region this year, including our representation in connection with the financing for a solar portfolio by EnfraGen, the Rule 144A green project bond offering for ILAP, Solek’s 110 MW PMGD solar portfolio, the 101 MW San Pedro solar project and the 204 MW Cabo Leones II wind farm in Chile and the 99 MWa (125.83 MWdc) El Mayo PV power plant in Mexico.
