Milbank LLP Litigation & Arbitration Group partner and Global Executive Committee member Atara Miller was selected by Corporate Counsel as a 2023 Women, Influence & Power in Law (“WIPL”) Award winner. The WIPL awards honor attorneys who have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in law. Ms. Miller was recognized in the Collaborative Leadership category, which honors women attorneys who are particularly effective collaborators with external and internal stakeholders.
Ms. Miller’s practice focuses on federal and state court litigation of complex commercial matters and bankruptcy-related litigation. She regularly represents financial institutions, corporations and individuals in class actions, securities and breach of fiduciary duty actions. She was recently recognized by Billboard as a Top Music Lawyer, and named a leading lawyer by Chambers USA for Litigation: General Commercial in 2022 and 2023. Previously, Ms. Miller was honored as Media & Entertainment Lawyer of the Year at Euromoney's 2022 Women in Business Law Americas Awards and named to Euromoney's 2021 Women in Business Law Expert Guide.
As an Executive Committee member and leader at the firm, Ms. Miller is a key advocate in Milbank’s efforts to support and develop the careers of women attorneys. She is a founding member of the Women@Milbank affinity group, and serves as chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative, a committee that champions the success at all levels of Milbank’s women lawyers. She also established the firm’s Parenting Affinity Group, which addresses the needs of parents and provides support through informative events.
Her most recent pro bono work, which involved a class action lawsuit against NYC’s Department of Education for failing to implement special education hearing orders and a settlement in a racial discrimination lawsuit against the Suffolk County Police Department, was featured in Law360 and Newsday.
