Atara Miller, partner in Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP’s Litigation & Arbitration Group, has been recognized in the 2016 edition of the Under 40 Hot List, a new accolade of Benchmark Litigation to honor the achievements of the nation’s most accomplished legal partners age forty or younger. Through a process of peer review and case examination, this list has been compiled over a period of many months to assemble this collection of young, up-and-coming attorneys.
Ms. Miller’s practice focuses on federal and state court litigation of complex commercial matters and bankruptcy-related litigation. She regularly represents financial institutions, corporations, and individuals in class actions, securities and breach of fiduciary duty actions. She litigates and negotiates appropriate rates for music performing rights, on behalf of Broadcast Music, Inc., one of three national performance rights organizations.
Her recent achievements include obtaining a trial victory for BMI against Pandora Media, Inc., a decision which is changing the market for performing rights in the digital era. She has also litigated multiple fraudulent transfer claims and adversary proceedings through trial and has prosecuted fraudulent misrepresentation claims on behalf of secured lenders. Currently, she is representing Ambac Assurance Corp. in federal litigation against the Governor of Puerto Rico and other Commonwealth officials to enjoin the diversion of monies pledged to bondholders in violation of the US Constitution.
