Primary Focus & Experience
Thomas has a broad practice covering complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, white collar crime and regulatory breaches, including the investigation and defence of matters involving alleged corruption, fraud, market manipulation and money laundering.
Prior to joining Milbank in February 2024, Thomas trained and practised at another US law firm in London.
Key experience includes:
- Advising an individual in a Competition and Markets Authority investigation into suspected anti-competitive arrangements in the fragrance industry.*
- Advising a director of an AIM listed company in connection with an internal investigation and related pre-action correspondence.*
- Advising an aerospace company involved in a HMRC export control investigation.*
- Advising companies on the effectiveness of compliance policies and the application of anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, export control and sanctions laws, including in M&A transactions.*
- Advising a group of independent proprietary energy traders in relation to matters arising from their trading of WTI oil futures during the Covid-19 pandemic when oil traded below zero for the first time in history.*

Recognition & Accomplishments
- Dechert LLP 2022 Samuel E. Klein Pro Bono Award Recipient. Supported the JUSTICE Working Group in publishing its Reforming the Windrush Compensation Scheme Report, which sets out recommendations to improve the administrative and procedural aspects of the scheme to ensure it is accessible, fair and efficient.
- Co-author of The Legal 500 country-specific Q&A, United Kingdom: White Collar Crime, 2022.
- Thomas holds a First-Class honours degree in Law from the University of Bristol and was awarded a Graduation Award for achieving the highest overall marks for EU Law subjects.
