Jaime E. Ramirez is a partner in the New York office of Milbank and a member of the firm’s Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group and co-head of Milbank’s Latin America Practice Group.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Ramirez’s practice centers around the acquisition, development and financing of energy and infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on Latin America and digital infrastructure across the Americas. He has extensive experience across all industries in Latin America and across the value chain in digital infrastructure, including data centers, GPUs, fiber and tower.

Digital Infrastructure 

Some of his recent transactions include the representation of:

  • Switch, Inc., Rowan Digital Infrastructure, Applied Digital and other data center operators and developers in connection with various financing transactions, including project financing and development facilities.
  • The lenders to CyrusOne, Edgecore, Edgeconnex, Odata, Edged, Vantage and others in connection with various financing transactions, including project financing and development facilities.
  • The lenders to CoreWeave in connection with GPU financings.
  • The lenders to CyrusOne in connection with an approximately $8 billion development facility, the largest data center financing to date.
  • The lenders to Ubiquity and Firstlight in connection with certain fiber financings.
  • The lenders to Tillman in connection with certain tower financings.

Latin America

  • The financing sources in connection with the $1.5 billion financing for the acquisition, construction, operation and transfer of two seawater pipeline assets for Minera Centinela.
  • The lenders on the financing for the construction, development and operation of the battery energy storage BESS del Desierto project, belonging to the Atlas Renewable Energy group.
  • The lenders in connection with the financing of phases 1 and 2 of project “Oasis de Atacama en Chile”, consisting of a 220 MW Solar PV Plant and a Battery Storage System with a capacity up to 1.24 GWh.
  • The lenders in connection with a $176.6 million senior green loan financing for Solarpack’s San Martin solar PV plant in Peru, currently the largest solar plant in Peru’s history.
  • More than 15 PMGD financings in Chile.
  • Several 4G toll road projects in Colombia, including Pacífico 1 and Covioriente toll road projects and three consortia comprised of Colombian and international infrastructure companies in connection with the financing of the construction and operation of the Girardot - Puerto SalGar - Honda Toll Road, the Barranquilla Toll Road and the Pacifico 3 Toll Road.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Jaime regularly speaks at industry conferences and has co-authored the chapter titled, The Role of Project Finance in Developing a Region: Trends and Considerations, in “The Guide to Infrastructure and Energy Investment” published by LatinLawyer. He is consistently recognized by industry publications, including:
