Primary Focus & Experience

George has experience of complex commercial litigation in the English Courts, as well as international arbitration and regulatory investigations. He also advises clients in relation to economic sanctions and is a member of the firm’s Global Risk & National Security Practice.

Key experience includes:

• Acting for Visa in multiple sets of proceedings in the Competition Appeals Tribunal in relation to the ongoing “umbrella” proceedings in the Competition Appeal Tribunal, in relation to alleged infringements of competition law relating to the setting and implementation of multilateral interchange fees associated with the use of debit and credit cards.
• Acting for claimants in High Court proceedings relating to a US$50m ship financing fraud, including obtaining a civil fraud judgment.
• Acting for an international financial sector firm in relation to investigations by regulatory authorities in multiple jurisdictions concerning antitrust/competition law and market conduct issues.
• Advising corporate and financial institution clients in relation to UK and EU sanctions against Russia, including in relation to imports/exports and asset freezes against designated persons.
