Milbank LLP was named a finalist for Project of the Year at CoreNet Global NYC’s 2019 Corporate Real Estate Awards for Excellence. The professional association recognized the region’s best commercial real estate interior projects, and Milbank’s honorable mention in the “Over 100,000 Square Foot” category for its new Hudson Yards headquarters was second only to the world’s largest advertising company’s 700,000 square foot campus.
In planning the firm’s relocation from Wall Street to 55 Hudson Yards, Milbank worked in partnership with architecture firm LSM and contractor Structure Tone to transform 10 expansive floors in the ultramodern, LEED Gold-designed building into a world-class experience for lawyers, staff and clients. The team strategically combined private space for focused work with social spaces for team collaboration to enhance the firm’s collegial culture and meet the specific needs of Milbank lawyers. Seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, wide sunlight-flooded corridors and a unifying staircase that connects all 10 floors were thoughtfully chosen to create a sense of inclusiveness throughout the space. Contemporary commissioned art and custom finishes on every floor are more than décor – they accentuate the architecture and complement curves and shapes that make the space unique.
Floor-to-ceiling windows, reflective surfaces and two outdoor terraces bring the vibrancy of Hudson Yards in, and state-of-the-art amenities include an in-house barista bar featuring made-to-order espresso beverages and a restaurant serving fresh cuisine for breakfast through dinner with a convenient food ordering app. Crain’s New York Business recently named Milbank’s Hudson Yards office a finalist for “Coolest Amenities” in NYC, mentioning the stunning views and customized features like automated standing desks as notable perks for the firm’s lawyers.
