Milbank’s London office won two awards at The American Lawyer’s inaugural Transatlantic Legal Awards last night.
Julian Stait, Co-Managing Partner of the London Office, won the award for “Transatlantic Litigation - UK and Europe”, in recognition of his and the team’s role advising Visa Inc. in a series of high-profile antitrust cases in the English courts and, in particular, in securing a judgment in November 2014 which struck out claims brought against Visa Inc. covering a period of 30 years. This award recognises the leading UK and European litigators and their firms for exceptional work on transatlantic disputes.
Tom Canning, Litigation partner, was named as a “Transatlantic Rising Star” in recognition of his exceptional work on a number of leading high-profile cases. This award recognises stand-out lawyers under the age of 40 for work on transatlantic matters.
This is the first year that The American Lawyer has held the Transatlantic Legal Awards which were created in order to honour the leading lawyers and firms in transatlantic matters involving corporate, finance and litigation work between the US, UK and European legal markets.
Julian Stait said “We are extremely honoured to have had the work of our London Litigation team recognised by the receipt of these two prestigious awards. It is very pleasing for all our team of exceptional litigators and a testament to their skill and dedication.”
