Milbank LLP partners Viren Mascarenhas and John Dewar and special counsel Seyda Duman will attend the World Association of Mining Lawyers (WAOML) Annual Conference in Istanbul, Turkey, June 2-4, 2024. Mr. Mascarenhas will join the “Mining Arbitration: Strategies & Expert Insights” panel as a speaker.
Milbank has been actively involved in innovative and complex financings undertaken in Turkey, acting for lenders and sponsors in numerous engagements involving power plants, oil and gas projects, infrastructure projects and mining projects throughout the region. Milbank also has expertise representing Turkish and non-Turkish parties doing business in Turkey in contentious proceedings, including litigation in US and English courts, as well as international arbitration.
Mr. Mascarenhas specializes in investment, commercial and construction arbitration. He was part of the counsel teams that successfully defended the Republic of Turkey in high-profile investment arbitrations, and he has particular experience in disputes arising in the energy and mining sectors.
