On January 23, Milbank LLP Litigation & Arbitration partner Gurbir S. Grewal participated in a webinar hosted by the Independent Directors Council (IDC) on the topic of SEC Enforcement Trends in the new Presidential administration. Mr. Grewal highlighted what fund directors should know about recent SEC enforcement activities and what to expect in the future in the shifting regulatory environment.
Also on January 23, Mr. Grewal spoke at Sandpiper Partner's sixth annual Hot Trends in DOJ/SEC Enforcement and Litigation conference. He was a speaker on the "DOJ/SEC Priorities and Perspectives" panel, discussing corporate and white-collar investigations and SEC enforcement priorities.
Mr. Grewal served for over three years as Director of the Division of Enforcement of the SEC. As SEC Enforcement Director, Mr. Grewal oversaw all investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation conducted by the SEC and supervised a staff of more than 1,300 attorneys and accountants nationwide from 2021 to 2024. During his tenure, the Commission brought over 2,400 enforcement actions, resulting in orders for more than $20 billion in financial remedies.
