This past month, Milbank was honored to welcome BD Wong for a lively fireside chat about intersectionality, following one’s passion, and the keys to success. BD was joined by our Asian-Pacific Island Network (APIN) Affinity Group Partner Liaisons, Chris Kwan and Maya Grant, for an introduction and Q&A session, and the program was facilitated by Milbank’s Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, Mikeisha Anderson Jones.
In the legal industry, as well as in other industries, we know that active mentorship is critical to success, and BD emphasized the importance of mentors in his life that helped him grow into the person he was meant to become. “Did you ever imagine that this would be your life?” Mikeisha asked. “Yes,” BD answered, “because people saw my potential, and helped me see it through their eyes.” Throughout the fireside chat, colleagues were reminded that having mentors provides the skills, confidence, and development needed to reach your full potential. BD’s story of professional and personal growth is one that transcends the acting industry and is one with which we can all connect.
We want to extend a thank you to our APIN Affinity Group for curating a space where our API associates can feel supported and valued every day. We also want to thank BD Wong for his authenticity, and for taking the time to speak to our Hudson Yards office this May.
