Milbank LLP is pleased to announce that Latinvex recognized Global Capital Markets partner Fabiana Sakai as a top female lawyer and Global Capital Markets associate Alexia Raad as a rising legal star in its 2021 Latin America awards. The winners were announced in October 2021 and December 2021, respectively.
The “Latin America’s Top 100 Female Lawyers” award honors the top female lawyers from international law firms practicing in the Latin America region. In Latinvex’s ninth annual ranking, it recognized 100 attorneys from 63 global firms in various practice areas following an examination of major deals and business, firm prominence in Latin America, as well as existing rankings.
Latinvex’s “Latin America’s Rising Legal Stars” award recognizes 25 lawyers at international law firms working in the region. This year’s list recognized partners, associates and counsel from 20 different law firms.
Ms. Sakai is a partner in the firm’s São Paulo office. She has over 15 years of experience in Brazil advising clients in capital markets, financial and M&A transactions. Ms. Sakai regularly advises clients in the infrastructure, real estate, manufacturing, retail and financial services industries. She has advised on a number of high profile deals in Latin America in 2021 which include several prominent equity and debt deals in Brazil as well as public and private M&A transactions.
Ms. Raad is also based in Milbank’s São Paulo office. She represents issuers and banks in cross-border equity and debt securities offerings and liability management transactions. She participated in multiple major transactions in the region this year, including a few of the first sustainability-linked bond issuances in the region.
Milbank’s Global Capital Markets Group advised on 190 deals in 2021 as of the third quarter, with 98 transactions holding a combined value of US$112.8 billion in Latin America and North America. In Latin America, the firm spearheaded multiple groundbreaking capital markets transactions.
