Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP has adapted its unique Milbank@Harvard professional development program to benefit select general counsel and other clients. The program, now in its second year, is the subject of a January 17 column in Forbes, “Why A Firm Takes Clients Into The Classroom Rather Than Out To The Ball Game.”
According to Forbes contributor Adam Gordon, the Milbank@Harvard Corporate Counsel program “points to the growth of a new arena in business development, and also a new market for executive education providers.”
As the article explains, “Milbank invites and pays for clients it seeks to build relationships with to attend a 4-day business and leadership executive education program at Harvard, including modules in strategy, finance, accounting, leadership, and macroeconomics. The program is developed and run in association with the Harvard Law School (HLS) Executive Education, with crossover to the business school. Four in five of the program faculty come from Harvard Business School.”
Milbank partner and Executive Director David Wolfson, who oversees the program as well as Milbank@Harvard for associates, notes that Milbank and its clients have much to gain from the program: “Maybe [clients] learn more about us, maybe we do get additional opportunities, and we cross-sell better. But we’re doing this more because we think we have found something of real value to our culture and to our lawyers. We think we can share that value with our clients.”
