The event brought together stakeholders from across the energy space in North America to discuss the status quo of the energy transition and the steps moving forward. The event addressed the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and discussed topics including energy investment and battery storage economics.

The plenary session speakers assessed the impact of the IRA, including successes and unexpected challenges that have arisen while implementing the law’s provisions. Mr. Marks and his co-panelists discussed how the US can maintain its position as an energy industry leader globally, analyzed the obstacles that have emerged for starting onshore and offshore projects in recent years, and explored how supply chain constraints are affecting renewable energy costs and investments. They offered suggestions for balancing federal and state roles in incentivizing the energy transition and for crafting effective policy going forward. Mr. Marks also analyzed the potential impacts of elections in the US and regulatory and geopolitical uncertainty on cross-border investment in energy.
